If you’ve got a mixing bowl full of dry ingredients, don’t just grab the switch on the Kitchenaid mixer and go full throttle.

I was trying to bake and a helper took over. It didn’t go well.

lol, just a few hours ago I made toll house cookies with my 4 and 6 year old. I can see this happening and I can picture the aftermath in my mind.

I tried to make mashed potatoes with one of those cheap handheld mixers once. I replastere d the ceiling instead.

ha - I am using one nearly like that that my wife’s 92 yo grandmother inherited from her mother to make our mashed potatoes tomorrow.  Original wood handle - I am honored to use it.

Mashed potatoes should have a certain amount of lumps for texture. Not huge lumps, but they should also not be like whipped cream.

Too late by a few decades...

Still, my mum did even better. She learnt that you could make caramel by boiling an unopened tin of sweetened condensed milk. So this is what she did. Unfortunately, she also has the attention span of a 3 year old. So while it was boiling away she went shopping. The saucepan boiled dry and the unopened tin of caramelized sweetened condensed milk exploded...

Both myself and my grandmother were home at the time ( but oblivious to the cooking tin) so we could at least turn off the stove. But the caramel was another story...it took years to clean up from the exposed brick walls and the pine panelled ceiling...

That’s hilarious. At least someone was home. My wife put eggs on to boil, then forgot about them and went to pick up our son from school. By the time she got home, the fire department had arrived and had already broken through the back door to put out the fire. Fortunately, there was not fire, it was just smoke from the charred remnants of the eggs . For weeks w e were finding bits of egg in the kitchen and bits of broken glass in the living room from the back window the firefighters kicked in.

That happened once when I made royal icing....(1lb of confectioners sugar all over in a 4ft radius .) it was a royal pain in the ass to clean up plus roach infestation a week later.

Royal icing can be made by using a spoon :)

They really should have added a slow startup feature years ago. My grinder and polisher have it.
